The essential duties and responsibilities of the Estimator, Level I consist of, but are not limited to, the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
1. Sales/Business Development:
Work with Estimators and others in the development of conceptual estimates and value engineering.
Prepare or assist in preparing estimates and proposals for conceptual projects.
Complete assigned project estimates on established deadlines and priorities.
Prepare accurate estimates of direct costs for assigned projects according to standard processes.
Prepare clear and effective proposals for review by the Lead Estimator for assigned projects according to standard processes.
Assist in performing value engineering of new or alternate materials, means and methods of construction.
Assist in soliciting or qualifying and qualify proposals from suppliers and/or subcontractors; participate in the procurement process, as directed.
Participate in Job Kickoff Meeting; support Project Team as required thereafter.
Provide estimating assistance with Change Orders, as required.
Education: Associate’s degree in Construction or other appropriate field of study or 1-2 years related work experience.
Experience: Preferred 2 years’ experience estimating interiors and exteriors in the construction industry.
Skills: Well developed analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to read and interpret drawings, including schematic and conceptual formats. Knowledge of construction materials, means and methods. Attention to detail.
Physical: Includes sitting, standing, reaching, walking; use of hands, arms, legs, and feet. Must be able to see and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations.
Communication: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to communicate effectively and positively with customers, vendors and employees.
Computer: Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with Bluebeam, Quickbid and OST software preferred
Estimate the cost of construction for assigned projects; participate with senior management in concept development and value engineering utilizing the standard procedures of the department, and contract negotiations while conducting yourself in a manner consistent with KHS&S core ideology.
