Sets up and operates machine to form longitudinal bends into sheet metal strips by action of two or more roller dies to fabricate structural shapes specified by work order by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Bolts specified roller dies and drives rolls onto spindles.
Positions spindles to align male and female roller dies and adjusts rolls to thickness of metal.
Sets side guides.
Turns knobs to set footage meter and control, which stops machine or activates automatic shear when specified length of strips have been run.
Lifts coils of metal onto feedrack and threads end into feed roll.
Directs flow of coolant onto machine, observes operation, and verifies dimensions of finished products.
Removes finished pieces from machine bed.
Feeds precut strips of metal into machine.
Turns knobs to adjust speed of machine.
Verifies coolant levels in machine and oils and greases moving parts as specified.
Directly supervises one helper in the production department. Responsibilities include training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work; and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
