Position Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Ceilings Design Engineering Manager to join our team.
As a key member of the Engineering management and leadership team, the Engineering Manager shares responsibility and helps manage financial goals, employee engagement, safety, quality, and efficiency within the plant.
The Engineering Manager position requires that the motivated individual demonstrates their leadership and business skills managing the technical design department within the plant.
Responsibilities include:
· Responsible for training, motivating, and maintaining a high level of safety for all department employees to ensure an efficient operation, consistent with overall company safety objectives.
· A desire to actively manage and develop others; provide guidance and recognition in conjunction with company philosophies.
· Using the Real Performance and Directions initiative as the platform, enables a participative, highly engaged workforce culture with emphasis on developing people for higher levels of responsibility and accountability.
· Oversee 2 Engineering Lead and approximately 15 Design Engineers. Oversee Engineering functions, maintaining manufacturability, and continuing development of organizational systems including SOP creation and maintenance.
· Responsible for improving company product output and operations as it relates to project budgets, design resolution, project schedules, manufacturing support, client interface and technical installation support.
· Effective in Design and Fabrication techniques to ensure a smooth transition into the manufacturing process.
· Implements effective engineering strategies using our latest engineering tools to maximize monthly revenue goals.
· Responsible for training Engineering Leads on dissecting large, complex projects into manageable portions, eliminating waste, moving projects forward to achieve expectations.
Education and Experience: Preferred requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a strong technical aptitude
· 7 – 10 years minimum job-related experience
· 4 – 5 years management experience required
· Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA a plus
Qualifications:
· Demonstrated ability to effectively manage employees in a participative, high employee engagement culture.
· Broad knowledge of continuous improvement processes. Demonstrated experience in implementing LSS, RPM, and LEAN (5S, visual work, gemba, etc).
· Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills and success at managing an hourly workforce, creating accountability and developing people at all levels.
· Strong fundamental knowledge of the Ceilings business, or a strong desire to learn.
· Ability to achieve results working with key stakeholders from the plant, shared services, and other corporate functional groups.
· Knowledge and experience with commercial construction, building codes and sustainability (LEED) required.
· Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural & other construction related drawings, documents, and specifications.
· Experience in implementing and using the latest in computer-aided design (CAD) platforms.
· Past use of Agile/Scrum or similar collaborative tools a plus
Salary Range: $114,420-$152,520
Salary may be changed based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
